THE WASTE IS A RAW MATERIAL PROJECT

  • It arose from the need for systemic and long-term education of the citizens of Slovakia about waste, its separation, recycling and recovery, the results of their behaviour on the environment in which they live.
  • Its ambition is to help satisfy the limits for recycling and recover of waste, to collectively achieve the targets for Slovakia set by the European Union on waste management.
  • Contributing to fulfilling the National Programme of Quality for the period 2013 – 2016, the Quality Charter of the Slovak Republic, which is linked to the European Charter of Quality, which includes improving the quality of the environment.
  • The philosophy of the project Waste is a Raw Material is built on partners cooperating and volunteering.

Slovakia has an obligation to the European Union which states that by 2020 we must achieve at least a 50% level of recycling of municipal waste. At the present time we are at a level of around 8%.
